Why This Site Exists

The world is a crazy place right now, and I believe Iowa voters deserve a clear, sourced, side-by-side comparison of the candidates on their ballot without partisan framing. This site is meant to have comprehensive coverage of every statewide and federal race on Iowa's 2026 ballot.

The 2026 election features more competitive Iowa races than any cycle in recent memory with the open Governor's seat, an open U.S. Senate seat, and three competitive U.S. House races. Pair this with increasing wealth inequality, revolutionary technology like AI, and political tensions mounting, and it's easy to see why people are sick of attack ads and propaganda. The stakes are so high that voters cannot afford to dig through campaign spin to find out who the candidates are and where they actually stand on current issues.

How We Research Candidates

Each candidate profile is built from primary sources only: official campaign materials, voting records, debate transcripts, on-the-record interviews, and verified social media posts. We don't rely on opposition research, partisan commentary, or attack ads. If a candidate's position on an issue is not clearly stated in primary sources, we will not include it on this website.

For incumbents, we cite voting records and official statements. For challengers, we cite stated campaign positions and prior public roles. Each candidate's "Primary Issues" section reflects the issues that candidate's own campaign emphasizes most. The "Position on Opponent's Priority Issues" section reflects the candidate's stance on issues their opponent has made central so voters can see where the candidates engage on the same questions.

Non-Partisan Standards

Our non-partisan approach means:

  • Both candidates' positions are presented in their own framing and language.
  • Endorsements are listed without commentary on their value.
  • Voting records are reported as facts.

Why Only Governor and U.S. Senate Have Quizzes

The voter quizzes for the Governor and U.S. Senate races compare your positions on a number of current issues to each candidate's sourced positions. We've limited the quizzes to those two races for three reasons:

  1. Everyone has a say. Iowan's from every county will have the chance to vote in these two high-profile races, so we wanted to make sure voters can be as informed as possible.
  2. Issue clarity. Both Governor and U.S. Senate candidates have well-documented positions on a wide range of issues, making the quiz approach more reliable.

This Voter Guide's Independence

This site has no advertising, no political action committee (PAC) funding, no candidate donations, and no party funding. It is maintained as a volunteer civic project. The goal is simply to be as informative and helpful to Iowa voters as it can be.

About the Author

I am an Iowan who is concerned for the future of the state, country, and world. The corruption and partisan approach to politics has left normal, everyday people in a worsening spot. I built this site to help people be informed on political races that you likely don't have time to read up on everyday. We want to make it so you are making the right choice for yourself in the voting booth. I do not have any affiliation to, take direction from, or coordinate with any candidate or party.
